The 2023 GFFA focused on multiple crises

At the GFFA 2023, held in Berlin for the first time since 2020, around 2,000 international guests exchanged views on the current issues and challenges of food system transformations in 20 Panels and the Innovation Forum. They discussed short- and long-term agricultural policy approaches to overcoming the multiple crises.

Kick-off Event

The opening ceremony marked the official start of the GFFA 2023 amongst a welcome speech by Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. Ophelia Nick with an exchange between high-level experts of the global agri-food sector from politics, industry, science, and civil society for the events to be held within the framework of the GFFA.

Expert Panels

The 16 Expert Panels were organised by entrepreneurs, stakeholders from civil society, academia, International Organisations, and governments, allowing visitors to explore a wide range of topics. After the one-and-a-half-hour panels, visitors could engage in in-depth discussions and ask further questions.

High Level Panel and High Level Debate

Two High Level Panels, hosted by the European Commission and the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), took place. The international experts addressed the theme of the GFFA 2023 “Transforming Food Systems: A global response to multiple crises”. The World Bank and the UK Foreign Office in cooperation with BMEL hosted the High Level Debate on the sustainability of GFFA 2021.
